Inboard Boat Owner Preparation: A
few Tips to get your boat ready for Winterization.
1. The gas tank should be filled to about 80% capacity.
If you fill it to the top, it may expand and overflow. Leaving the tank
empty or low encourages condensation and explosive fumes.
2. A garden hose needs to be connected to a water source and able to
reach the boat.
3. Water and non-toxic anti-freeze will be flushed through the engine,
with the engine running, so the boat should be placed where this won’t
be a problem.
4. The Outdrive/Trim should be stored in the down position.
This saves on stretching the bellows and shift cable.
5. Unless otherwise instructed, Rov-a-tune leaves the battery in the boat.
The battery should be stored in an area above freezing and charged a few times over the winter - if possible.
6. Rov-a-tune removes the main drain plug and puts it in the glove box. IMPORTANT:
The drain plug must be reinstalled before launching the boat.
